It will take you to the Amirantes for a 7-day cruise (6 nights on board)! Comfort, speed, safety and reliability are the watchwords for this boat. As for the dive sites, you will benefit from our experience and you will be alone in the world!
The Seychelles Outer Islands, rarely visited by a ship, are now accessible from this locally based motor catamaran. Explorer 2 – Basilisk was built in 2004 by Bon Pelley Enterprises Ltd. from Newfoundland, Canada as a commercial North Atlantic fishing vessel, subsequently refitted for research. She was transformed in 2014-2015 into an expedition yacht with a 7m aft extension, new aft mast and boom lifting 5 tons and more economical engines plus eco-friendly systems. She sailed in 2016 from Canada to Florida then on to Antiqua & Barbuda.
The recent upgrades are designed to bring you the best of diving that the Western Indian Ocean has to offer.
This ship is equipped with safety and navigation systems for high seas voyages up to 6,000 NM.
Since 2019, the current owner has made many new additions and improvements, notably two Coltri dive compressors, A/C compressors, Miele W/T, awnings, operable windows, insulation, interior finishes, AGM batteries, safety & navigation equipment & passerelle. In 2020, she sailed from Genoa, Italy through the Mediterranean, the Suez Canal, Red Sea, and Gulf of Aden to Victoria, Seychelles, now her home base.
L’Explorer 2 – Basilisk offers a relaxed atmosphere in modern, bright spaces for groups or families. Her expansive salon, aft and fly decks provide unusually large areas with shade, privacy and comfort. Guest cabins feature big windows, ensuite shower baths, ample storage and individually operated A/C controls. Enjoy an early morning watch for rare species on the fly deck, a light lunch under the aft awning and evening cocktails with fabulous views of exotic sunsets.
L’Explorer 2 – Basilisk maintains two tenders for the use of its guests. Our USCG SAFEBoat25 Full Cabin tender Rudolf is 7.6m long and fitted with two 135 HP Honda engines. It carries up to 6 divers, scientists or nature enthusiasts with equipment. With a range of up to 250 n.m., Garmin radar, GPS navigation, depth sounder, and enclosed seating for four, it is well suited for adventure.
Our Highfield 360 RIB Rudolfino is powered by a 20 HP Honda outboard, also has GPS and a depth gauge and seats four comfortably. It is typically used for land excursions. Two sea worthy kayaks are also available to explore lagoons and mangroves or just for fun by our younger guests as well as adults.
L’Explorer 2 – Basilisk proudly contributes to cleaner seas through low fuel consumption, solar electrical system, anaerobic black water treatment plant, a grey water holding system and 2 RO water makers.
On board, you will find real coffee made in an authentic Italian coffee maker. Espresso and other cappuccinos are of much lower quality and we thus eliminate the use of aluminum capsules, which are not recycled in Seychelles.
You will not have small bottles of water but a fountain distributing cold water and hot water and isothermal bottles. This will help you to manage your water consumption and hydrate as often as possible.
You will have at your disposal a environmentally friendly shower gel and environmentally friendly shampoo. But if you want to use yours, remember to check their composition. Marseille or Aleppo soap is totally biodegradable. In this same logic, we also advise you to choose sun creams that are not harmful to coral.
Even if the boat is equipped with a saltwater separator, we will ask you to be “reasonable” with the use of water and toilet paper. Shower are installed in the toilet.
